How to Report Improperly Parked Veo Bicycles

Nov 22, 2022

IVeo_Bikef you see an improperly parked Veo bicycle on campus, especially a bike that should be immediately moved because it blocks a sidewalk, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramp, facility entrance, curb cut, crosswalk, or driveway, please email uiucops@veoride.com with a picture and exact location of the bike needing to be moved. Per the  bike-sharing agreement with the university and cities, Veo is responsible for addressing reported issues within three hours during peak times. However, some conditions may necessitate a more rapid response.

All Veo bicycles are numbered, which is helpful when reporting a bike concern. If you see a bicycle that has fallen over or is misplaced, picking it up and moving it as necessary is also acceptable. Veo representatives can answer questions and concerns about bike sharing at hello@veoride.com.

E-Bikes Not Allowed to Throttle on University Property

Veo is required to inform customers of the proper use of bike rentals through their smartphone app. This includes class two e-bike usage restrictions on university property and any related retrieval fees incurred from activities outside designated jurisdictional areas.

When using motorized rental bikes, such as the Cosmo class two e-bike from Veo, riders are not allowed to use the throttle on university property at this time, including bike lanes and pathways. GPS tracking will disable the motor in these locations. Based on initial campus community feedback, the university continues to support traditional bikes, e-bikes with pedal assist, or e-bikes operated manually on university property. Pedestrian safety is F&S’ top transportation priority, and U of I stakeholders are collaborating to review the current bike share program and determine future improvements.
