Food for thought July

Garrett Anderson, U.S. Army Retired, will be the guest speaker at the upcoming D&I Brown Bag at noon on Wednesday, July 21. Anderson was serving in Iraq when an IED was detonated under his Humvee. He lost part of his right arm and jaw and suffered from a traumatic brain injury.

During his recovery, Anderson not only had to struggle with his injuries, but he also had to fight the U.S. government to get his wounds properly classified. Anderson went on to earn his master's degree from UIUC, and he now serves as the outreach coordinator and student recruiter at the university's Chez Veterans Center. Anderson and the Chez Veterans Center were recently featured in a News-Gazette article: https://go.fs.illinois.edu/News-Gazette.
