Update on Medical Surveillance Visits at Carle

Apr 23, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Carle Occupational Medicine is requesting that medical surveillance visits (e.g., evaluations for respirators, asbestos, hazardous waste, etc.) be delayed at this time, if possible.

Also, Carle is not presently performing pulmonary function tests (PFT). If you or one of your employees is unable to delay a medical surveillance visit that requires a PFT, a follow-up appointment will need to be scheduled once testing resumes. The deadlines for annual PFT renewals will be extended until Carle offers this testing again.

Carle's injury care, pre-placement, and drug screening services are still available on-site for occupational medicine customers. For injury care after typical business hours, go to one of Carle’s Convenient Care locations. Contact Amy Cathorall amy.cathorall@carle.com, 217-383-6730, for questions or more information. A First Report of Injury/Illness form must still be completed and sent to the university's Office of Workers' Compensation and Claims Management.

If you require medical surveillance for the use of a respirator, please contact the F&S Occupational Safety & Health department oshs@illinois.edu for current alternatives to in-person evaluations.

Thank you for following these guidelines and helping to protect the safety and well-being of our community.
