Freezing Conditions - F&S Operations Update

Jan 31, 2019

ONGOING CAMPUS PRE-TREATMENT EFFORTS

With historically low temperatures and another round of snow and ice forecast for our area, F&S crews continue pre-treatment efforts for campus sidewalks, building entrances, pathways, bike lanes, roads, and parking lots with brine solution, ice-melt, and road-salt applications.

Please exercise caution if you must travel on campus. Remaining areas of persistent snow and ice, along with freezing temperatures and wind chills, will make for hazardous conditions. There is still a likelihood for blowing and drifting snow to affect locations across campus as well, causing additional slick spots.

To report an area for immediate attention, contact the F&S Service Office fsserviceoffice@illinois.edu, 333-0340.

HELP PROTECT BUILDING SYSTEMS AND EQUIPMENT
F&S also requests the assistance of students, faculty, and staff to help protect equipment and systems inside facilities during these extreme temperatures: keep all exterior windows and doors closed and report any weather-related or temperature control issues immediately to the F&S Energy Management Control Center fandsenergycomm@illinois.edu, 244-1894. After normal work hours, urgent hot/cold calls should be directed to the F&S Service Office for an expedited response.

Your cooperation is appreciated as F&S staff work 24/7 to keep the campus open and accessible through this unusually cold weather period.
