The 13th annual Light the Night event is back.

Bring your bicycle to one of three locations on September 24 from 4–7 p.m. for free bicycle light installation to increase safety and visibility.

Locations:

  • Alma Mater, intersection of Wright Street and Green Street
  • Hallene Gateway, intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Illinois Street
  • Campus Bike Center at 51 E. Gregory Drive, Champaign
The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District are organizing Light the Night. The Cities of Champaign and Urbana, Champaign County Bikes, and the Champaign County Regional Planning Commission support this event. Volunteers will install more than 1,000 bike light sets. Lights will only be installed on bicycles without lights; lights will not be given to individuals, participants must bring your bicycle to receive the free light sets.

There is a safety plan in place to minimize the risks of the spread of COVID-19 to volunteers and participants. Volunteers will be provided with hand sanitizers, gloves, and face coverings.
